Padres On Deck @ Rockies, Game 1 of 3

San Diego (32-51) at Colorado (32-50), 6:05 pm

DENVER (Ticker) -- The San Diego Padres hope to snap their season-long eight-game losing streak Monday when they visit the Colorado Rockies for the opener a three-game series.

The Padres, who have lost 12 of their previous 13 contests, will send veteran righthander Greg Maddux (3-6, 3.52 ERA) to the mound. Maddux is still seeking career win No. 351 as the future Hall of Famer is winless over his last nine starts. A four-time Cy Young Award winner, the 42-year-old Maddux has held opponent to two or fewer earned runs in seven of those starts.

The Rockies have lost their last seven contests, suffering a 4-3 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. Troy Tulowitzki hit a two-run homer for Colorado, which had won 12 of its previous 17 games before its recent losing streak. Tulowitzki is batting just .157 with two blasts and 13 RBI this season. Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa (2-4, 6.23) is making his ninth start of the season. The Mexican lefthander allowed four runs - two earned - and five hits with three walks and four strikeouts in Tuesday's 7-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals.
