SoCal MLB Preview
LA Dodgers (21-20) at LA Angels (25-19), 12:55 pm
ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - Ervin Santana and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim aim for a seventh straight victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers when the teams square off Saturday afternoon in the middle contest of their three-game interleague series.
Joe Saunders pitched well into the eighth and Vladimir Guerrero drove in two runs Friday to lead the Angels to a 4-2 victory. Anaheim, which tied Detroit for the best mark in interleague play last season (14-4), has dominated the rival Dodgers. The Angels have outscored the Dodgers, 50-14, while winning eight of the last nine meetings.
Santana (6-0, 2.63 ERA) will try to extend that dominance. The righthander has been outstanding at home over the course of his career, compiling a 27-9 mark with a 3.01 ERA here. Santana allowed a season-high five runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 8-5 loss to Tampa Bay on Sunday. He should have better luck against a struggling Dodgers' lineup. Los Angeles, which has scored just 25 runs in its last eight games, will turn to Chan Ho Park (1-0, 2.16), who will be making his first start in over a year.
